Van Hool T9 Altano
The T9 Altano, with an A as in Attractive
The name of this new type of coach, Altano, refers to its
most characteristic feature, i.e. the height of the underfloor
baggage space (altus, high). This 3-axle coach is available
in 12m length. Being 2.55m wide, it follows the latest trend.
The lower deck of this high-decker consists
of a separate cabin for the driver and guide and a baggage
compartment. Fitted with air conditioning, the total baggage
capacity is 13.4m3 on the T916. Two flights of stairs (at
front and centre) give access to the passenger compartment
which runs the entire length of the upper deck, right to the
front. 57, 53 or 48 travellers can be seated in the T916,
depending on whether it concerns a 2-, 3- or 4-star seating
configuration. Other seating arrangements, with seats from
a wide range, from luxurious to comfortable, are also possible.
As a worthy link in the range, this high-decker
has the typical T9-features: a stainless steel underframe,
a solid construction, independent front wheel suspension with
disc brakes, a roll-over structure, an ergonomic dashboard
with a centrally located LCD information screen, integrated
air conditioning etc.
Of course the Altano has the familiar yet elegant
looks of the T9. The design of the front section is derived
from the T9 double-deck coach.
These features and an engine that provides more
than adequate horsepower make this vehicle ideal for travelling
long distances in comfort.
Due to tradition, Van Hools Altano
model is particularly popular on the French and Spanish market.
Its success there is due mainly to the effective combination
of a large passenger capacity and an enormous baggage space.
